MAGARET LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY HAS MATRICULATED ITS FIRST SET OF UNDERGRADUATES

In a bid to expand the education landscape for Deltans and Nigerians in general, the Margaret Lawrence University, Galilee, Ika North-East has matriculated its first set of undergraduates into the 2023/2024 Academic session.

The University which was established May 12th 2022 by the law of National University Council (NUC) has matriculated a deserving and qualified undergraduates into five faculties of the University.

The Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori who was represented by the Hon Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof Nyerhovwo Tonukari stated that the addition of Magaret Lawrence University to the growing list of Private universities in Nigeria is a welcome development.

He added that with more choices of Universities at the disposal of students, both public and private universities would be motivated to improve on their deliverables in terms of academic curricula and competitive fees.

While congratulating the matriculating students, he admonished them to demonstrate the highest level of discipline, focus in their academic and guard against social media distraction, anti-social behaviour and make excellence their watchword.

On his part, the Vice-Chancellor of Magaret Lawrence University, Prof Ernest Izevbigie, noted that the vision of the University was to become a world class institution committed to the pursuit of knowledge, innovation and challenges of economic and human development in Nigeria.

He stressed that the institution would focus more in research, teaching and community service.

He VC noted that he was very optimistic that the institution would continue to grow in leaps and bounds as evidenced by the gathering of witnesses presence at the ceremony.

He urged the matriculating students to desist from activities of any unwholesome and anti-social groups, adding that they should not abuse the freedom of being an undergraduate rather strike a good balance between their studies, social life and value.
