Each department plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation and advancement of higher education in the state. Below is a comprehensive description of each department and its responsibilities

Administration Department

Handles all internal administrative tasks including staff appointments, promotions, training, and welfare. Also oversees budgeting, procurement, and general office management.

Core Responsibilities

  • Establishment matters (Appointments, Promotions, Transfer and Discipline
  • Secretariat of the Ministry’s Personnel Management Board
  • General Administration
  • Staff training and staff welfare
  • Maintenance of Personnel Records
  • Budget/Recurrent Expenditure
  • Procurement
  • Maintenance of Office Equipment and Furniture, Office Space etc.
  • Allocation, Management of Official Vehicles and Allocation of Number Plates
  • NYSC Matters/Industrial Training

Finance and Accounts Department

Manages the Ministry’s finances, processes payments, and coordinates financial transactions between the Ministry and state-owned tertiary institutions.

  • Coordination with the State Accountant General’s office

Remedial Education Department

Supervises public and electronic libraries across the state, promotes reading culture, and collaborates with institutions like NOUN for remedial education services.

  • Collaboration with the National Association of Nigerian Authors

  • Organizing book fairs, reviews, and reading initiatives
